The original Quest Study Bible was conceived in 1989 as a joint effort between Zondervan and Christianity Today International. They worked together to produce a Bible that would answer difficult questions that come up as people read the Bible. Focus groups across the United States helped narrow down the most useful features. Then, over 1,000 people got surveys asking what questions come to mind when they examine particular Scripture passages. Their responses helped direct what kinds of questions the notes would answer, creating a resource that answers the questions real people ask. The notes have been updated to ensure this Bible stays relevant and current to our times.

The New International Version of the Bible is widely used by evangelical Christians of all ages. Featuring a 7.8 grade reading level, the NIV combines word-for-word and thought-for-thought translation philosophies.
