Blair Lynne can tell you exactly when the ground under her feet gave way. Starting in 2015, she experienced crippling panic attacks that made her spiral into darkness, discouragement, and shame. Sometimes, the spirals were so intense that she landed in the emergency room. Like many Christians, Blair knew she "should" cast her frustrations onto God in order to process them, but she didn't know how.

A harrowing season followed. Terror. Rapid heart rate. Breathing difficulties. Trembling. Dizziness. Intrusive thoughts. The fear of dying. Blair learned that she had to give up on the typical quick fixes, simple answers, and theological bandages she had previously leaned on. Over and over, without warning or permission, waves of anxiety crashed over Blair, and she realized the truth: this was a complex issue that couldn't be bypassed by wishful thinking or spiritual platitudes. The only was out was through it with God.

Now, Blair stands at the other side of this valley. As she considers the past, she can appreciate even the worst moments of her story, for it has given her a deeper understanding of what it means to be human, what it actually means to lean into the Lord, and what it looks like to walk with a limp and a love for fellow strugglers. Blair rejoices in her affliction that taught her to tremble in the right way: in awe of God.
